The Five Steps in Preparing for Search Engine Optimization
Posted by Articles Point on Thursday, September 29, 2011
The process of setting up a website and going into business has never been easier and has convinced a large percentage of website owners that they can load some content on to a template and visitors will arrive. This practice rarely works in that manner but by taking the following five steps you can greatly increase the odds of building a website that generates traffic, leads, and conversions.
Take these steps before you do anything else:
Know your consumer - Determine who is going buy what you are offering and where you can find them. Search engine optimization will help with rankings but you can also reach out to your potential consumers through blogs, articles, and social media sites. These consumer direct venues may not generate a lot of revenues but they will help you build credibility with your consumers and the revenues that do come can help pay the bills while optimization efforts unfold.
Know your competition – Getting advance information on whom else is already doing what you want to do, what keywords they’re using, and the costs of going head to head with them will allow you to set up a search engine optimization strategy with the highest potential for a return on investment. Competition isn’t a bad thing so don’t be intimidated. The benefit of having some competition is that you can gain intelligence on what is being done well in the field, where keyword and other opportunities exist, and get a sense on the size and activity of the market you plan to address.
Differentiate your business – Separating your business from the competition by addressing neglected issues or offering the best product or service in the category will gain valuable attention from searchers. Try not to get bogged down with a “me too” type of product that looks like the same thing consumers can buy from a handful a sites. Articles, white papers, and blogs can also help to establish your brand’s superiority.
Research your relevant keywords – Thorough keyword research can help you learn how your market is searching for what you are selling and will prove to be a significant factor in maximizing the return on investment for your SEO efforts. Many owners make the mistake of assuming that the keywords relevant to searchers and spiders are obvious and can be defined without paying for research. Popular keywords can generate tons of non-targeted visits, can be highly competitive, and can be extremely expensive to get ranked on the front pages of the search engines. Using relevant keywords with less competition, derived from analysis, might drive less traffic to the site but your stickiness and conversions will be much higher. The can also be search engine optimized for faster results.
Determine how you’ll define a conversion on the site – While a whiz-bang website might impress a visitor, but having them convert is what is ultimately going to generate revenues. If the objective of your website is to sell complex or customized products and services, a conversion might be defined as a visitor setting up a phone appointment for more information on your products or services. If the offering is clean and simple make it easy and obvious to the visitor that you have what they want and how they can purchase it. Beginning with the landing page, your site should guide the visitor through the process using the simplest format necessary to get the conversion.
It may take a while longer to get started, but following these five steps will get results much faster than plowing ahead blindly. Additionally, employing the services of an SEO Company can ensure that pre-campaign preparation is thorough, efficient, and gives you the best chance for optimal results. If you’re contemplating the initiation of a search engine optimization campaign.

Gervais Group Tips and Tricks for SEO
Posted by Articles Point on Saturday, September 10, 2011
The Gervais Group, a highly skilled and sophisticated Internet marketing and online reputation management company, has some tips that should help you improve your search engine optimization (SEO). Using all the tools at your disposal is a big step towards effecting SEO, as is being as specific as you can about the words and terms you use.
Most executives and business owners feel overwhelmed by the concept of Internet marketing, thinking that they have to know C++, Java and Dreamweaver to put together a quality Internet campaign. While it is important to have a team that knows how to use the tools on the Internet, there are some tips you can follow to get the ball rolling.
Here are some helpful pointers that will hopefully be of some help to you:
Content is King! – If you want a certain page of your site to turn up when some uses a specific term, make sure to use that term! Be direct and deliberate in your use of language, do not try to talk around the subject. At the moment, the Internet is not interested in subtlety (for the most part) so trying to be clever with your language only goes so far. It is important not to just load pages with incomprehensible keywords, but use the key phrase in the opening paragraph and pepper that phrase throughout the rest of the copy. Try to make each page between 400 and 500 words so that you can use the terms correctly.
Get other sites to link to yours. Back-linking can help a web marketing program incredibly. It is one of the most important of the 100 factors Google considers when ranking sites. Building a relationship with like minded blogs helps the both of you in tremendous ways, and the more blogs and websites you build relationships with, the more you benefit.
Create a blog and post often. Blogging might be one of the most misunderstood parts of the Internet. People think that you have to either an unemployed writer or a member of the paparazzi to run a successful blog. Neither of those is true, and in fact many companies that have successful Internet marketing programs have blogs on their corporate websites. A blog can help you pull traffic to your website, can help raise your Google ranking and create more opportunities to build relationships with other websites.
Register for free tools. In most instances, when you get something for free, you get what you pay for. But the online tools available through Yahoo, Google and a host of other services are a major benefit. Using tools such as google.com/webmaster, as well as text-based sitemap xml.sitemaps.com and adding your business to Google’s local business center (google.com/local/add) can only help drive traffic to your site.
Lots of tools are available on the Web to help you market your site. Few of these tools cost very much, and they really are available to you at any time. Having a qualified Internet marketing company at your disposal to handle your needs and help you utilize these tools can make your life that much easier.

Facebook rebuffs allegations of tracking users
Posted by Articles Point on Monday, August 29, 2011
Facebook has denied claims that it tracks its logged out users. Instead the social networking site has been asserting that it uses tracking cookies for personalizing content and better security of the network.
Nik Cubrilovic, an applied scientist from Australia, has alleged that whenever a user logs out of Facebook account the tracking cookies are not deleted. The tracking cookies also keep minors from re-registering themselves with a false birth date. Cookies are set to distinguish when an unauthorized person illegally tries to access another user’s account.
On the contrary after every log out, the site merely alters those cookies instead of removing them. No information we receive when you see a social plug-in is used to target ads, we delete or anonymise this information within 90 days, and we never sell your information.
In a blog post Cubrilovic made public that "Even if you are logged out, Facebook still knows and can track every page you visit.”

Facebook modifies tracking cookies:- But Facebook engineer Gregg Stefancik commented on Cubrilovic's thread that Facebook is not chasing its users. However, Stefancik accepted that Facebook indeed modifies the tracking cookies and does not erase it after its users log out.
But, the idea behind it is to meet the safety standards and not to sell users’ personal data, said Stefancik.

Universal Law Against Cyber Crime Is What We Need
Posted by Articles Point on Friday, August 19, 2011
A coin has two sides. This is a very old, but a correct saying when we go through the advantages and disadvantages of any industry. Like a coin, almost every aspect of our life has got two sides. The most common example can be taken from the advent of technology and the crimes associated with it. Computers have become an integral part of the society, be it a student or a working professional. They bring along greater work and time efficiency, mostly in the working circle of the society as a whole entity. But here comes the twist, along with all the benefits that we get from computers and the technology, they are proven to be vulnerable against identity theft, scams and PC virus injection.
Governments and private organizations conduct various awareness programs to reduce the personal damages caused when we fall as victims in these types of crimes. I used to watch “Level 9” TV series that was aired on UPN channel in my television powered by Charter Cable a few months before. Though it was considered to be a science fiction, it did give me some insight on some of the most common crimes committed over the internet. There is a lot of attention and awareness towards online unlawful activity in the recent days. Some of the real stories shared by various victims prove that there are hackers who commit almost any impossible crimes so easily. Almost all the countries are vulnerable to this type of cyber offense and the damages caused to the computers and data are irrevocable and cost a lot of money. Serious concerns and alarms have been raised against the growing threat of online felony and its potential threat to the information stored in the computers.
Most of the countries do not have any existing law that they can apply against the people who indulge in this type of activity. Since the internet does not have any boundaries, it exposes everyone who is using it to the mystical hands of identity thieves across the globe within seconds. Digital crimes have been reportedly breaching national barriers at ease to jeopardize the political and the defense strategies of a country in front of other countries. It has been reported that after committing such crimes, the hackers sell the stolen information to the rival countries for a huge sum. The other reason as to why this type of crime is posing a serious threat is because of the fact that it is usually very hard to track the hackers as they operate together but from far and different places, making it harder for the law enforcers to track and find them. These hackers operate from different and far off places, sometimes even from different countries which make it almost impossible for anyone to track them.
The only option that the individuals have or can take against the digital thieves is self protection with the help of highly secured anti-virus or firewalls. Even after successfully implementing all safety features to secure our computers and the information stored on it, we are still exposed and vulnerable against hackers and spammers since they use more advanced techniques or tools. A report says that huge companies are indulged in these types of unlawful activities either to get rid of their competitors or to steal confidential information like software source codes, formulas or even the client database. After various awareness programs people are quite cautious in sharing their personal or financial information with unknown websites, but it is an unavoidable fact that internet theft is occurring daily in various parts of the world. Thus national bodies and governments should operate together to make a legal framework and a structure through which no hacker can escape after committing cyber crime.
